Description
endless canvas is an ongoing, lifelong project by visual artist Tilo Schulz, conceived as an endless painting that defies all boundaries. Instead of existing as a closed object, the work expands limitlessly—left and right, up and down—without any predetermined limits.
The painting consists of modular panels, each measuring 152 × 260 cm (59,8 x 102,4 inches), and unfolds as a continuous surface. Painterly gestures permeate the transitions between the modules: lines cross edges, colors flow across boundaries; each panel is embedded in a larger painterly universe. Thus, the result is not a series of individual works, but a painting in constant expansion.
Beyond its painterly dimension, endless canvas is conceived as a platform for collaborations across various artistic and scientific disciplines. For the opening exhibition, Hungarian experimental music composer Gábor Lázár is collaborating with Tilo Schulz.
